If you have already rafted the Kennebec at its usual flow, then your natural next step up for a bigger thrill is right back here for a Kennebec High Water Release! These turbine test days only happen four times each summer so make sure to plan ahead. Starting from the same point, it’ll all look familiar and you’ll notice right away how much faster the water is moving.

As you cruise downstream towards the rapids, the waves will start to grow even bigger than you remembered. You’ll find the first photographer this time next to the 20 foot tall Big Mama! Make it over and the adrenaline will be pounding while you punch through the massive compression waves in The Alleyway. Again, you’ll regroup in the scenic Cathedral section of the river before you head toward Magic Falls, but this time around you get to take a new route through Magic. As you set up to run it on the right side of the river, just over the horizon line you’ll be able to see Maytag, the biggest crashing wave on the river! Breaking through the other side of Maytag, again you cruise through the final rapids of the upper and make your way into the relaxing lower river float out.
